Welcome to Popeye Gallery

We are a pop-up gallery committed to showcasing regional, emerging and established artists and curators in and around Northeast Ohio. For the past several years, we have organized events and exhibitions throughout the historic Waterloo Arts District.

Popeye Gallery was established in 2012 by co-founders Omid Tavakoli and Josh Usmani. The friendship began in Robert Thurmer’s Museum Studies class at Cleveland State University in 2010, and continued over the years while working at the Galleries at CSU. After each curated multiple exhibitions individually (at various venues on and off campus), we began collaborating under the umbrella of Popeye Gallery.

In September 2015, we took over curating at Survival Kit (Suite 303) inside 78th Street Studios. Stop by from 5 to 9 p.m. on the Third Friday of each month for a free, public reception (live music at 9 p.m.)
